#27 Drug Free Mindset Rehab Show with an Anonymous Kid

Drug Free Mindset Show

Today we are excited to have an anonymous guest today. The next series of podcasts are going to be from a child’s perspective with parents being drug addicts.

What do you remember as a child growing up and what was your life like?

It was very hard 90 percent of the time his parents were under the influence, there were people in and out of their house all the time.

What was the worst thing you remember growing up involving your parents using drugs?

People that came into their home while the parents were all drugged up and would sexually molested him and his sisters. His father would take his anger out on them and especially on him.

When did you realize that being an addict was not normal?

He knew at a very young age that it was wrong, he always knew it deep down inside.

When you finally understood that your parents were addicts did it affect your social skills, confidence or self-esteem?

It effected his confidence and it made him suicidal. He had a complex because he always felt ashamed. He didn’t trust anyone because the people that were supposed to take care of him and love him, didn’t.

Have things changed from when you were younger?

He knows that there is going to be a positive outcome on everything that took place in his life, God will turn everything for the good.

Did your parents ever seek or receive the help they needed to recover?

Yes but it wasn’t voluntary, it was always court ordered and it would work for a while but it would never last. They didn’t really want to change. Now his dad has given his life to the Lord. But he is still trusting in God for his mother.

What would you want your parents or other parents to know about how their abuse affected their children?

Put your hope and trust in God. He is the only one that can help, seek the help from him and he will be there for you.

Thank you for sharing your story, I know it was probably one of the hardest things you’ve had to do but we hope that parents hearing these types of stories will think twice and make a change for the better.
