#25 Drug Free Mindset Rehab Interview with Deryk Bissell from Sacramento

Today we are excited to have Deryk Bissell from Sacramento as our guest.

When was the first time you experienced drinking or drugs?

He tells us he was told that when he was a baby his dad would put beer in his bottle but as far as smoking weed he was in the 5th grade. Later he would smoke weed every day, he became a pothead.

What or who influenced you to start doing drugs?

Did drugs with his friends.

What became your drug of choice?

He did a lot of different drugs acid, cocaine, mushrooms, acid, and ecstasy.

Did the drugs ever make you Paranoid or did you ever hallucinate?

Yes, he would see things like telephone poles reaching the ground but was lucky he never had a bad trip. The paranoid feeling was the worst feeling ever causing him to have low self-esteem. He believes drugs are an avenue the devil and demons use and operate in. The drugs cause low self-esteem and shame that keeps you paralyzed. The drugs killed who he really was as a man, his confidence, his ability to believe in himself because the drugs made him feel worthless.

Now that you’ve recovered, what word of encouragement would you like to give someone who is struggling with addiction?

When you ask yourself “why do I keep doing this behavior?” he believes you’ll never be able to change this on your own without the power of Jesus Christ. The most important thing he said is come to Jesus because all the chains in your life god can remove them. He had questions about God and how he could be good when he was 14 years old and sleeping on a park bench. He went to church on an Easter Sunday and God changed his life. There is nothing that God can’t overcome so open your heart and let God come inside.
